Baptism Quiz

1. Is baptism in the plan of salvation?

1 Peter 3:21(NIV) This water symbolizes baptism that now saves you.

2. Does saving faith require us to be baptized?

Mark 16:16 (NIV) Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved.

3. Accepting that baptism is a required obedient step of faith for salvation, is Jesus the only name with the power to save?

Acts 4:12 (NIV) Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”

4. Are we baptized for the forgiveness of sins?

Acts 2:38 (NIV) “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.

5. Is the name of Jesus necessary for the forgiveness of sins?

Acts 10:43 (NIV) Everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.”

6. If we receive forgiveness of sins through the name and by baptism, should we call on the name of Jesus when we are being baptized?

7. Did the apostles always baptize in Jesus’s name?

8. Should we continue the Biblical practice of baptizing in Jesus’s name?

Colossians 3:17 (NIV) And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus

9. Is it appropriate to be re-baptized if you were not baptized in Jesus’s name for the forgiveness of your sins?

Acts 19:3-5 (NIV) So Paul asked, “Then what baptism did you receive?” “John’s baptism,” they replied. Paul said, “John’s baptism was a baptism of repentance. He told the people to believe in the one coming after him, that is, in Jesus.” On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

10. Does the Bible instruct every one, including you, to be baptized in Jesus’s name?

Acts 2:38 (NIV) “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.

Bonus: Is it vital that we obey the commands and patterns of the scripture?

James 1:21-22 (NIV) Accept the word planted in you, which can save you. Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.

James 4:17 (NIV) If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.

Hebrews 5:9 (NIV) He became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him.
